Bill of Materials (BOM)
In Formul, a Bill of Materials (BOM) (often called a “Recipe” in other industries) tells the system what ingredients and packaging are needed to make a product.
Creating a BOM
Section titled “Creating a BOM”-
Navigate to Manufacturing > BOMs.

Click New BOM.

Output Item: Select the item you are making (e.g., “Lavender Candle - 8oz”).

Output Quantity: How many do you make in a standard batch? (e.g., “1” or “100”).

Add Components:
- Select the raw materials or sub-assemblies.
- Enter the quantity needed per output batch.

Scrap Factor (Optional): Enter a percentage (e.g.,
0.05for 5%) if you regularly lose material during production.
Multi-Level BOMs
Section titled “Multi-Level BOMs”Formul supports “Russian Doll” manufacturing.
- Example: You make a
Bulk Perfume(Level 1), which goes into aBottled Perfume(Level 2), which goes into aCase of 12(Level 3). - How to set it up: simply create a separate BOM for each item. When you create a Work Order for the
Case of 12, Formul knows it needsBottled Perfume.
